Developmental Edit

Also known as a structural assessment, this edit is designed to provide a big-picture assessment of your manuscript. I will tackle all the major story components that agents, publishers, and readers will be looking for in your work including character and plot development, setting and sensory details, pacing, genre expectations, and more. My goal is to empower my clients to be the best writers they can be, so feedback will include multiple suggestions for revision, tangible advice for fixing your bad habits, and insight into identifying your problem areas on your own. My feedback will consider writing-adjacent factors like your target audience, your chosen genre, and the preferences of the agent or publisher to whom you wish to submit your work.

Developmental edits are available for full or partial manuscripts.

NOTE: developmental edits will not consider micro-level concerns like sentence structure or grammar and punctuation. The nature of this edit will often result in significant changes to your manuscript. I highly recommend completing a line edit after the story elements have been confirmed to your liking.

Pricing:

• $45 per hour
• Minimum 10,000 words (40 pages)

All submissions must be in standard manuscript format: 12-point font, Times New Roman, double-spaced, 1-inch margins.
