Submission Assessment
Agents and publishers are simple people, and believe it or not, they are only ever looking for one thing: a writer who knows what they’re doing. Unfortunately, most agents and publishers have far more submissions than time, so the bad news? Most can only afford to give you 5 – 10 pages to prove you’re the capable writer they’re looking for. The worst news? An experienced professional will make up their mind about you in one page or less.
Do your first ten pages have what it takes to convince an industry professional to keep reading? My submission assessments will tell you exactly that. I will consider all major story elements like the effectiveness of your hook, the introduction to your character(s) or concept, stylistic choices, and basic grammar and punctuation. During the assessment, I’ll consider writing-adjacent factors like your intended target audience, chosen genre, and the agent or publisher to whom you plan to submit your work.
